The Painting of Life through Light

Ronda, Spain

Synonymous to Ronda, are the activities of watching bullfighting, and the jaw-dropping gorges that you can see for yourself when you are there. Just a 10 to 15 minutes drive from Benaojan, Ronda is situated in a very mountainous area about 750 m above mean sea level. The GuadalevĂn River runs through the city, dividing it in two and carving out the steep, 100 plus meters deep El Tajo canyon upon which the city perches. Standing on the edges of the canyon makes you go soft in the knees, as the strong winds blow through the town. I was told not to be to zealous in taking photo, lest I fall off the cliff in the process of taking the perfect shot. From the top of the cliff, I could see brave travellers on the ground below, walking the small tracks below, only metres from the edge of the cliff. No, I did not try these tracks, partly due to a vote by my group not to go down, and also partly due to the weight I carry and the thought of having to climb back up again. – HL
